About PickyParent.com
Welcome to PickyParent.com! We hope that whether you are a parent, educator, school leader, counselor or community leader, you will find what you need here to make the elementary years more powerful and productive for the children you love, nurture and teach every day.

We started the Picky Parent Guide book series in hopes of inspiring and equipping every parent to make the most of each child's school-age years — first by choosing the best learning environment that fits your child and family, and then by working to improve the results from any schooling situation.

In support of the book series, we are developing the PickyParent.com website with four complementary goals:

  1. Fill the gaps that inevitably grow after producing static books (although the books provide the absolute core of what is most important in these matters, we aim to improve continuously),
  2. Keep parents informed about the latest research and happenings in the education arena, and how these trends impact your children,
  3. Generate a productive dialogue among all the adults who play roles in the education of children, and
  4. Inform parents, educators, and community leaders about the work we do in support of each group.

This is quite a challenge, but we are game to try. Many thanks to those of you who are already helping with Goal #3 and making our publications and website come alive by sharing your stories, questions and feedback.

One challenge for us is that the more we learn from you, the more we want to say. As our publisher tells us, "You may be all ears, but you're also 100% mouth!" We'll try and remain calm, and deliver only the highest quality information. We will stay committed to our "expert advice, your values" principle and use your stories to help communicate important messages and build community among parents facing similar issues.

This website is produced in conjunction with our publisher, Armchair Press, and was designed by BGDI in Berkeley. If you're still curious about PickyParent.com or us, here are a few other items you might be interested in...
